This is a great example of what my system designs can do for you! The last picture is what the dance room at Kennedy High School had for a “sound system”. Old antiquated cd player, wireless, and something called a speaker at the bottom of the cart.

New system was installed in a locking wall rack for security. Quality components used throughout. CD player with ipod dock and a very simple audio mixer for audio novice to operate. Compact speakers with high output and punchy bass, suitable for a dance facility.

Customer was absolutely ecstatic by the end result.

Oakmont High School purchased 15 additional wireless headset units to make a total of 20 systems for their theatre department. Antenna distros as well. Ended up remote installing the antennas. All with Countryman E6 headsets. Originally had spec’ed Audio Technica because they had 5 3000 series to begin with, but ended up with Shure product (The Farm, don’t hate me). Installed some very cool LED stage lighting @ New Life Church in Elk Grove. 9 lights total, all linked via DMX to a controller. No heat, all color options available, even strobing capabilities.

Thomas Pridgen (ex-mars volta, now Memorials) just made me want to play drums! Ran sound for the clinic outside Skip’s Music. Huge QSC stacks, awesome drum kit, and Pridgen is an amazing drummer. Damn that was fun!

Sister Crayon Live @ Luigi's in Midtown Sacto

I recorded this in February and I’m just now releasing it to everyone! I went through some equipment changes in the last few months, but finally got around to finishing the mixes for Sister Crayon. This was recorded at Luigi’s on 20th & K for a Haiti benefit show. I believe there were at least 6 bands that night. Very quick sets and change overs. The show was recorded with a Presonus Studiolive and a macbook pro with Presonus Studio One Pro (cubase 5, which is my main DAW crashed during show setup, decided not to trust it for the evening). Very simple set up, but overall I’m pleased with the recording. Extremely tough room! If you’ve ever been to Luigi’s, it’s all reflections. Concrete floor, drywall, and it’s a rectangle. Standing waves and all kinds of crap for days. BUT, the place was packed and they have a good PA. Anyway, I had fun. Unfortunately, this set and the band previous is all I have out of the entire night as I deleted all the other sets on accident. I can’t believe it happened. Stupid mistake, certainly won’t happen again.

edit:

For all you geeks, this set was mixed on a macbook pro with Cubase 5. Stock, UAD, and Waves plugins. Stemmed out via a SSL Alphalink clocked by a GENX-192 word clock, summed into an Allen Heath 16:2 console. THEN, through a Chameleon labs signal chain consisting of 7802 and pair of 7602 MKII and back in to the DAW. Sweet :)

Recorded drums at a house in east sac for my friend Scott Ballard. His mics, my rig. Awesome drummer.
